I inherited a language to speak. The southern u.s with its baptist churches and damning billboards, it gave me a language to speak (symbols to draw on, a void to scream in to).
I read the bible so I could tell you what I mean and pray that you would hear me, that too is a relationship to god ( the god of second hand, the god of trying my best).
This Southern Baptist imagery meeting disenfranchised poverty, and queer love is an illustration of that language in contrast with the reality I live in – a visual embodiment of the The Sapir–Whorf hypothesis.
